What is greatness, what makes something or someone great as opposed to good or just okay? Isn't great subjective like for instance, I think a movie is great and someone else thinks it is just good or I really liked the fish dinner, thought it was great and you don't like fish? So then, how does one become great? Is he defined great because of who is or what he does? What if I think I am a great painter and yet someone who is supposed to know art looks at it and declares it horrible? Who is to say who is a great artist, poet, writer, sculptor, painter, singer, actor? Is it just that enough people, a vast majority come to the same conclusion, therefore deeming something great or otherwise? If just one person was to proclaim something great, would it make it so? Does this then mean that we have to consider other people's opinions when it comes to greatness, or is it that people are not necessarily great, just what they do can be called great? I think people who do great things don't necessarily start off thinking that greatness will be the end result, they do it because they are following their bliss. Read 0 Comments... >> |
Freedom, free will - do we really even know the meaning of these words? We imprison ourselves in so many ways. We take away our own liberties, impose ridiculous restrictions on ourselves and yet call us free. We act in so many cases like we have no choices, that we are victims and things happen to us without our consent. We are powerless and yet we are powerful beyond belief. We are so powerful that it scares us to death - a death of our free will. There is always a choice, we are co-creators with our partner Spirit and there is nothing that we cannot be, do or have, yet still we convince ourselves otherwise. There are those that are caught in the middle, intellectually knowing who they are and where they came from and yet twisting this knowledge to stay stuck by saying "If I was so powerful, then why can't I do what I am wanting to do, why can't have what I am wanting to have? I must be stupid, incapable, unworthy." They don't realize they have one hand reaching out trying to pull their desire towards them while the other hand pushes it away. Only we can say when we have had enough of this so-called freedom, only we can turn our eyes to the truth of who we are. Read 0 Comments... >> |

Back to that dirty feeling of guilt. Such a waste and yet it can be so powerful if we let it be. So I say, if you want to lay down in the grass on your back to watch the clouds when there is laundry that needs to be done, do it without guilt. If you want to speak words that may offend, put down that guilt. If you want to eat that brownie, guilt doesn't have to watch. If you don't know what to do, just sit still for a bit, keeping guilt outside and what you need will come to you. Laugh, I love to laugh. Laughing causes me to feel lighter so when I laugh, I am "lightening up" or "lighting up" - either way, light is involved. Guilt, I have no more use for you, there is no stranglehold that you can use on me anymore. Your tricks are so old, the same nasty routines and they just don't work any longer. So go find someone else who needs you, who has a use for you. Your time has expired. I am handing you your pink slip and in the words of Donald Trump, "You're Fired!". Pack your bags, move along, you're not welcome anymore. Read 0 Comments... >> |
Well, here it is, my first official blog entry. So many emotions flowing through me, joy being the most prevalent. It has been a long time coming and since I have sent Fear on a long vacation, I can dance my happy jig with total abandonment. It is very interesting to me how fear can act as a powerful drug with the ability to paralyze you. I know, without a doubt that I cannot live without the written word. I have been writing down my thoughts, stories, poems, and the ever practical "to-do" lists for as long as I can remember. Books have been my constant companion, my preferred mode of entertainment. Words have spilled over into my love of music. Yes, a song definitely has to have a good background of music but for me, the words are the foreground. They are what causes emotion to flow through me. Don't get me wrong, instrumental music is wonderful as well, it has the ability to bring out certain feelings in me, yet I find that I am usually creating a story in my head to go with the music. Words are my passion, my bliss and as Joseph Campbell says "Follow your bliss and the universe will open doors where there were only walls." Fear had kept me from following my bliss, I allowed it to paralyze me but no longer. So my hope is in sharing myself through words, laying myself out naked for all the world to see, that some of you may find something that moves you, that connects you to yourself, starts to awaken your bliss and creates cracks in the armor that holds your light hostage. May you send Fear packing, releasing yourself from the paralysis that has gripped you, so that you can dance a happy jig of joy!!
